A long time ago (May 2010) in a far away land (1.5 hrs from Amarillo) four friends set out on a mission to hunt the beasts of the rolling plains.

Three of the friends completed the task before them, taking wild boar and wild turkey. The fourth friend (Alan..AKA Buttons) caught a fish.

Great time had by all that weekend, put up a new feeder got to hunt and see some turkeys, they were a pain otherwise. We took three pigs out of the gene pool, way to go Cinnabear and Lefty. Caught plenty of catfish and killed at least three 30 packs.

Glad you guys came out, looking forward to it again.

Man Vs. Something Weekend

Big Bear showed up in Amarillo looking to set the outdoor world on fire. We started with a little fishing over at Haley Lakes in Oklahoma. Tim and John joined us for a bit, drank a beer and enjoyed the day. Too much fun, plenty of bass and crappie caught.

We then moved onto a quick mountain bike run to the Lighthouse in Palo Duro Canyon. Quick trip due to Big Bear having no rear brakes. Could have been worse but we made short work of the trail. Dodging hikers, and horseback riders.

Finally, we headed to the country. Had a great time sighting in Andy’s 7 mag. Working on stands, feeders, checking out the local wildlife and had a hell of an evening shooting dove. We could not have asked for better. Birds were flying until dark and we had plenty of opportunity to limit. We were both shooting at about 70% due to some injuries. Joke, we were just not on.

Though you would think with Big Bear hauling out three shotguns to shoot with he would have hit more birds. It was a great weekend and I look forward to the Big Bear coming back for round two.

Fourth was Fun

Fast forward from Andy’s Birthday to the fourth of July. The family came in and we had some friends over to my place for the fourth. Had a great time and really enjoyed the visit. We cooked out, a little picking and grinning and the nephews could not help but try and catch the place on fire with the Tiki torches. Interesting how I remember doing the same thing though this time I was on the other side of “NO”. None the less, a great visit and I could not have asked for better company. We also took a trip the the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum and Wonderland Park here in Amarillo. I think the last time I was there I was my nephews age.

Have not been on the bike since the 24hr race, but plan on getting her cleaned up this weekend.

Aight folks,
Today is Andy’s Big Birthday. Born on St. Patrick’s day I think it’s amazing that he has gone this long without any liver damage (so the doctors tell him).

If you get a chance, shoot him a note wishing him a Happy Birthday. He will no doubt be pleased that we posted these photo’s of him on the interweb.

Thanks G for sending me the 6 ft leprechaun photo. That was just devious though extremely funny. Paybacks are hell big bear.
Brother its been one hell of a ride to this point and I am looking forward to many more years of our antics. Keep your chin up, 25 is not that old.

We love ya patna, and think you sure are swell.

McGraw

October 4, 2008 - Alan and I were headed to the WTAMU Homecoming festivities. On the way we decided to go the the marble Buffalo Sculpture that is located in the center of the new pedestrian mall in front of Old Main. This sculpture is amazing and the gentleman Doug Scott who created it is a very talented artist. Alan decided to go “McGraw” in front of it and I captured the moment in pictures. If you are unfamiliar with “McGraw” just check out the less than exceptional cologne commercial for Tim McGraw, not sure what the pose is for but gives our crew some ammo.
